Cory Booker is a Hero – WELL worth appreciating, AND remembering why!
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker IS a hero – for his recent tour de force in the United States Senate. Senator Booker’s 25-hour, four-minute speech last week should be an inspiration to ALL our representatives in the House, Senate, in Salem and more locally. Even sweeter: Senator Booker broke the 24-hour, 18-minute record set by segregationist Strom Thurmond in 1957, admitting later that Thurmond’s record “always kind of just really irked me.” Booker’s long and emotionally-moving marathon ended with an invitation to his colleagues, quoting his towering mentor, the late Congressman John Lewis:
“Let’s get in good trouble.”
