DOGE wants to cut funding for the Administration for Community Living.
SAGE (Advocacy & Services for LGBTQ+ Elders) is asking for help contacting your reps regarding the “Make America Healthy Again” plans. SAGE is a national advocacy and services organization that’s been looking out for LGBTQ+ elders since 1978. It helps build welcoming communities and keep relevant issues in the national conversation to ensure a fulfilling future for all LGBTQ+ people. The elimination of this agency, that’s focused specifically on aging, could have disastrous implications for older people, disabled people, family caregivers, and the programs upon which they rely. This plan could disrupt or eliminate critical services for older people like home-delivered meals, adult day programs, transportation to medical care, free legal aid, and more.

Senators Wyden & Merkley, Reps. Janelle Bynum, Maxine Dexter and/or Andrea Salinas Talking Points:
My name is _____ and I’m a constituent from _____ (City/Town and State).
I’m calling to express my vehement opposition to the current Administration’s “Make America Healthy Again”(MAHA) plan. The White House wants to decentralize and scatter responsibility for aging programs across the federal government, making it harder to keep an eye on.
As your constituent, I demand that you speak out publicly against any cuts to federal aging programs, personnel, services, or resources. We ALL should insist on preserving an agency like SAGE which specifically focuses on aging, because getting older will affect ALL of us sooner or later.
Having a centralized agency like SAGE will make accessing services easier and can improve and prolong the lives of millions of Americans. NO WAY should it be cut.
